OUR STORY

Established in 1995, the West Vancouver Track & Field Club is the premier, high performance track and field club serving the North Shore and Sea-to-Sky regions. Our athletes have achieved podium success at the provincial, national, and international levels of competition, and have even set world records.

In 2020, in the spirit of the Olympic Movement, another club with an equally storied legacy, the Hershey Harriers Athletic Club, joined our family, thereby bringing together two pillars of the local sports community. United as one, we look forward to many new podium results and more athletes representing British Columbia and Canada.

Our objective is to encourage, support, and develop the sport of track and field from the local community level to the highest levels of international competition by:

  • providing opportunities for both widespread community participation and high levels of athletic proficiency;

  • providing facilities, equipment, and quality coaching for members;

  • securing, productively using, and safeguarding the financial, physical, and human resources needed for Club operation;

  • building and maintaining good standing in the local community, as well as the broader track and field community at the regional, national, and international levels.

The griffin is our Club’s emblem. It is a legendary creature with the body of a lion and the head of an eagle. As the lion was traditionally considered the king of the beasts and the eagle was the king of the birds, the griffin was thought to be an especially powerful and majestic creature.
