The West Vancouver Track & Field Club (WVTFC) was formed in 1995. Since its foundation, the W.V.T.F.C. has grown from a small "grass roots" club to a mature organization comprised of athletes in every age group and in every level of competition from beginner/novice to national.

Objectives
The Club's objectives are: To encourage, support and develop the sport of track and field from the local community level to the highest levels of international competition, including road racing, marathon running and cross-country running. This will involve:

(a) providing opportunities for both widespread community participation and high levels of athletic proficiency;

(b) providing facilities, equipment and quality coaching for members

(c) securing, productively using and safeguarding the financial, physical, and human resources needed for club operation;

(d) building and maintaining good standing in the local community as well as in the broader track and field community at the regional, national and international levels.

Club Emblem
The Griffin is the West Vancouver Track & Field Club's recognized emblem.
According to legend, the Griffin or "Lion Eagle" could not be matched for its Courage, Strength and Vigilance. The Griffins lived in the mountains between the land of the Hyperboreans and the land of the one-eyed Arimaspians.

Part eagle, part lion, the Griffins guarded their native treasures - above all the gold to be found in the mountains. The Arimaspians tried many times to steal it, and because they always made their attacks on horseback, they created a lasting hostility between horses and Griffins. Confrontation often led to fierce battles, but the aggressor could never match the power of the Griffin.
