WVTFC 101: ABOUT US

The West Vancouver Track & Field Club (WVTFC) was formed in 1995. The Club's objective is to encourage, support and develop the sport of track and field from the local community level to the highest levels of international competition, including road racing, marathon running and cross-country running. This will involve:

  • providing opportunities for both widespread community participation and high levels of athletic proficiency;
  • providing facilities, equipment and quality coaching for members
  • securing, productively using and safeguarding the financial, physical, and human resources needed for club operation;
  • building and maintaining good standing in the local community as well as in the broader track and field community at the regional, national and international levels.

The griffin is our club’s emblem. It is a legendary creature with the body of a lion and the head of an eagle. As the lion was traditionally considered the king of the beasts and the eagle was the king of the birds, the griffin was thought to be an especially powerful and majestic creature.
